Warning: [This is going to be looooong 🙂 ]
I had a lingering thought about how powerful we are as human beings.
Just by virtue of the truth that we are created in the image and likeness of God. Think about that… 1 John 4:17 says that “ …as He is, so are we in this world.”
However, since the dawn of creation, the weapon of the enemy is MAKE US BELIEVE that we are powerless. Because as a man thinks in his heart, so is he (Proverbs 27:3a)
A child of God who walks outside of their identity opens themselves up to be robbed by the enemy. So, every day, in subtle ways, the enemy will convince us that we are really not powerful. That we have no self-control. That we are ruled by what the world calls “personality types” and once we believe it, we start to acted like those personality types.
Yet the Bible says “If ANYONE be in Christ, he is a NEW creation. Old things have passed away, behold ALL THINGS ARE NEW. And all things are of God, who has reconciled us to himself.” 2 Corinthians 5:17-18. Then Ephesians 4:13 “I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me.” Then Galatians 5:20 …. Heeeeyyyy you have a new personality…the personality of Jesus! You can do what He can do. YOU ARE POWERFUL!
You can be ANYTHING you set your mind to. You can become a morning person. You can become effective at work. You can cast off that “hot temper”. You can CHOOSE peace in the midst of chaos. You can be faithful to your spouse. You can quit that habit. THE BATTLE IS IN YOUR MIND. Because as long as you THINK that you CAN’T, you WON’T.
So,lately, when I say I CAN’T do something, I stop, and take responsibility and say “No, I WON’T do it…” I recognize the painful but powerful truth that I am making a CHOICE not to do that thing, because according to God’s word, you and I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens us.
Here are some scriptures that show that we have the power to CHOOSE:
John 14:1 “LET NOT your heart be troubled…” (You can refuse to be troubled. You rule over your emotions)
Colossians 3:15 “LET the peace of God rule in your heart…”
Colossians 3:16 “LET the word of God dwell in you richly…”
Psalms 34:1 “I WILL bless the LORD at all times, his praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
YOU ARE POWERFUL. Make powerful choices today. Speak the language of power today: His Word over you and your situation.
