My Lesson for Today (Psalm 118:8-9, Proverbs 3:5-6)
Over and over again, I have found myself in a position of need, and I have often caught myself “secretly” putting my hope in a “person” who I think is in a position to meet my need, even as I pray to God… I would pray, while expecting that “person of power” to come through for me on God’s behalf, and sometimes, “share” about the issue in the hearing of that person I have decided is God’s vessel to solve that problem. LOL
I specifically remember when we planned our wedding…we had our “list of people” we expected certain amounts of money from, and of course the money came from TOTALLY different sources… and God was proving His point to us again: “TRUST ME! Not trust me through so and so!”
When we put our trust in men, we make them idols. We place on them a responsibility that is only for God. It ends up putting unfair expectations on people, and draining or straining relationships.
God calls us to trust Him with ALL our heart… We all have places we need to totally surrender, and once we give it to God, we remove any form of “expectation” of assistants of God… We are all children of God, depending on Him… Do not elevate some to the position of God. It is unfair to the person and it dishonors God because He is bigger than that!
8 It is better to trust in the Lord
Than to put confidence in man.
9 It is better to trust in the Lord
Than to put confidence in princes.
