My Late-ish Lesson Today (Proverbs 6:6-11)
One of the best definitions I have heard about self control is “telling yourself to do something and you actually do it.”
Many of us have decided that we are not “self driven” or “self motivated”. We apparently work best under pressure.
It’s very easy to do something when someone you respect or fear tells you to do it. But real powerful people are those who can tell themselves to do something and actually do it without any external pressure.
This is what stands out about the ant; he has no ruler or lead leadership yet he gathers his produce in the summer.
I have realized that if I am not “self controlled”, I will end up being motivated by hunger and poverty when they come upon me like an armed robber! 🙆
So…How about we take a 10 day challenge, where u set for yourself small goals and achieve them without external pressure?
Like waking up on time, keeping time, saving some money by yourself? Keeping your word?
Let’s be the powerful people we are! Let’s obey ourselves and be SELF CONTROLLED.
Enjoy Sunday tomorrow.
Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise, Which, having no captain, Overseer or ruler, Provides her supplies in the summer, And gathers her food in the harvest. How long will you slumber, O sluggard? When will you rise from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep— So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler, And your need like an armed man.
