My lesson for today: (Proverbs 2:1-6)
I went back to the dictionary 🙂 and they define a treasure as “any thing or person greatly valued or highly prized OR something of great worth”
Each one of us has that thing or person that we value most, whether we know it or not, and that becomes the guiding force of our lives. For some, it’s our parents, friends, our children, a mentor, a strong desire to succeed, a book, a pastor…someone, whose words are the TRUTH, and from whom we draw counsel for every important and major decisions.
The Bible says that God’s word is a LAMP to our feet and a LIGHT to our paths (Psalm 119:105). But is it? Stop and think with me today; What is guiding the decisions in your life? Many times, we go to God to simply present Him with our plans, asking Him to come and make them work. However, He is under no obligation to finish something He didn’t start (Ecclesiastes 3:14)
What is your “treasure”? Whose words do you turn to before a major decision?
When we treasure someone, we listen to their advice and opinion, (receive their words and incline our ear), we apply what they say, we dedicate some of our time, our money, our thoughts and our conversations to them…
Whatever you treasure is what is truly directing your life… His Word is a GUARANTEE for success if it is the treasure/ thing of value guiding your life. What is your treasure?
My son, if you receive my words,
And treasure my commands within you,
2 So that you incline your ear to wisdom,
And apply your heart to understanding;
3 Yes, if you cry out for discernment,
And lift up your voice for understanding,
4 If you seek her as silver,
And search for her as for hidden treasures;
5 Then you will understand the fear of the Lord,
And find the knowledge of God.
6 For the Lord gives wisdom;
From His mouth come knowledge and understanding;
