God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.
The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah (NKJV)
“It’s now in God’s hands.” When have you heard someone make that statement? It is often made out of complete despair, helplessness and pain.
While this statement should give us hope, it actually usually leaves us confused and hopeless.
I have been thinking about it a lot: if my child was being operated on by the best cardiologist in the entire world, would that leave me in despair as I say, “he is in Dr….’s hands”? I think I would have much more confidence than if they were in the hands of a “training Doctor” in one of our hospitals.
Placing something in God’s mighty, loving, creative hands should give us comfort and not despair. It should also be our first option not last resort. How much do you trust these loving hands? They made you and I, they have your name permanently inscribed on them.
God is indeed our REFUGE. Let’s not think of Him as the source of trouble. Otherwise, we will be afraid of being in His hands.
The next time you say “it’s in God’s hands”, say it with confidence in a Father’s love, a King’s power, knowing that now you have a REFUGE from trouble, and that regardless of the outcome, those hands will hold you, comfort you, and carry you.
Let’s run TO Him, never, ever FROM Him… He is OUR REFUGE and HELP.
