“And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.” He said, “Bring them here to Me.” Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained. Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.”
Matthew 14:17-21 NKJV
Who in their right mind would offer 5 loaves of bread and two fishes to feed five thousand men besides women and children? If I were one of the disciples, I don’t think I would have even considered it as an option.
The disciples here had what in their own eyes was too little to solve a hunger crisis. However, they still offered it to Jesus when he asked for it. Actually, what other versions of the bible say is that this meal was a little boy’s lunch who happened to be in the crowd. Do you sometimes despise the things that God has given you as too small? Is it a gift that that you think is too insignificant to make a difference?
He used a little boy’s lunch to avert a brewing hunger crisis.
He used 5 stones, a slingshot and a little boy to slay a giant and save an entire nation.
He used Moses’ staff to rescue Israel from the hand of the Egyptians.
He also wants to use you as insignificant as you may think you are. Whatever you have, if you give it to Him, He will use it for His glory. If you lead yourself and steward your gifts well, you could feed the multitudes.
