I have heard it said many times that “we fight from victory rather than for victory”, but it had never quite sank until the past week. We actually fight FROM victory. How?
The times of war in the Old Testament are strewn with statements from God like: “Go and fight, for I HAVE DELIVERED them into your hand.” OR “Do not be afraid, for I HAVE GIVEN YOU VICTORY over them.” He (God) always told them this BEFORE the actual physical war/fight. And this is what the commanders of the armies used to encourage the troops. They told them “Do not be afraid, for God HAS DELIVERED THEM into our hands.” God does things backwards. He first gives you victory, and then sends you to war already victorious just to get proof of the victory and the spoils of war.
It’s like watching a replay of a soccer game after you ALREADY know the result. Even when the first half ends as a loss for your team, you are relaxed, because you already KNOW the result. Such is our position as children of God. We already know the result: WE WON.
So, today, be encouraged as you face the week ahead. Go, for God has ALREADY given you victory. YOU HAVE ALREADY WON! You and I do not fight FOR victory, but rather FROM victory! Remember WHO has fought for you.
Psalm 5:11-12 (NKJV)
11 But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You;
Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them;
Let those also who love Your name
Be joyful in You.
12 For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous;
With favor You will surround him as with a shield.
