Sometimes waiting on God for something He promised can be harder than we thought, especially when it seems to take soooo long. Excitement can turn in frustration and then we are tempted to disregard God’s promise and settle for something less than God’s best.
Maybe you are at a job where you feel like your joy is being sucked away with every waking day, or you’re being told about a clock that’s ticking and you’re about to settle for a relationship way below what you know God has planned for you, or like Abraham and Sarah in the Bible, you’re worn out from years of waiting for a baby… I have felt the pain of the wait, and almost embraced a counterfeit but with hindsight, God’s timing was always perfect and He made me forget the wait.
If you’re in the wait, be encouraged. GOD IS FAITHFUL. And His timing is always perfect with hindsight. And His way is the best way.
Think about Abraham and Sarah and how they they ended up creating a generation of bloodshed to this day because they tried to help God deliver on His promise through Hagar.
Don’t manufacture a counterfeit answer to God’s promise. Hang in there.
Write down those promises you have from God. Print them out in bold letters and refuse to settle for anything less than God’s best.
Psalms 37:3, 5-6
Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday. ( NKJV)
